Treasured memories are embedded in our hearts from the wonderful experience shared with our guests during the Gala on Thursday evening, October 15. It was a beautiful autumn evening enhanced by the spirit of community that filled St. Cyril and Methodius Church Hall, creating a harvest of blessings for the women who will benefit from so much generosity and care.
Two hundred guests enjoyed browsing the array of gift baskets and silent auction items before making their choices for their raffle tickets and bids. Others were measured for the Wingspan Raffle, receiving a string of tickets to match the length of their arm span hoping to win the special designated prize. In the midst of this flurry of activity the sounds of laughter, greeting of friends, and spirited conversations filled the room along with the aroma of delicious food and the temping sight of sumptuous desserts enjoyed with a glass of wine or a cold beer.
The mission of The Dwelling Place was enfleshed through the testimony given by one of our current residents and the beautiful rendition of the song, You Raise Me Up, sung by a guest vocalist.
We extend a heartfelt thank you to each of you who supported this event by your presence and contributions, by your prayers and donations from afar, and by serving on the planning committee or as a volunteer during the event. A caring community of support was alive and active on this night offering hope and support to women facing the challenges of homelessness.
Enjoy the memories captured in photos by photographer, Philip May.
