A Special Tribute to the (In)Visible Women Club
Since January of 2018, a group of students at the United Nations international School (UNIS) led by their student founder, Kristen Meola, formed the (In)Visible Women Club. Their focus is to learn about women in need, especially those who are homeless, and find ways to be of support. They discovered The Dwelling Place through our website and called Sister Joann from one of their classes to arrange for their first visit in January of 2018.
Since then, this group of dedicated and passionate young students has worked to raise awareness of homelessness among the students, staff, and families of their school. You may have met some of them working as volunteers at our 2018 Fall Gala. The group has also held fundraisers to support the women of The Dwelling Place. In 2018 they raised $4,000. On July 10, 2019, Kristen personally delivered a check for $6,000 to The Dwelling Place, the funds they raised during the 2019 school year.
It is inspiring to be with this wonderful group of young women and men and their parents who offer them their full support. Thank you, Kristen, your faculty adviser, Gina, and each of the members of (In)Visible Women. You energize us and give us courage to continue leading women from homeless to home.
