Nearly 50 People Served Thanksgiving Dinner

Each Wednesday night, The Dwelling Place of NY serves dinner to women from the neighborhood. This long-standing tradition was modified during the pandemic to keep our guests and staff safe and healthy. We provide “grab-and-go” bags to the ladies who visit, each filled with a healthy meal, as well as pantry and personal items, including extra face masks and hand sanitizer.

On Thanksgiving eve, we hosted 45 guests for a grab-and-go Thanksgiving dinner. They were welcomed by a team of volunteers, including Sr. Nancy Chiarello, OSF, who continues to volunteer her time at The Dwelling Place; Al DiRaffaele, one of our longest-serving volunteers; Gale Brewer, Manhattan Borough President; and the family of Phil Dorian of Catholic Charities of New York. Luisa cooked the turkeys and prepared a delicious dinner, and Ruth baked the pies. Officers from the NYPD 10th Precinct also came to show their support.

We are so grateful for our incredible community. You make our work possible. Have a safe and happy Thanksgiving!
