More Than 60 People Attend Christmas Dinner at The Dwelling Place
The Dwelling Place of NY welcomed more than 60 people on Dec. 23 for our annual Christmas dinner. Similar to our Thanksgiving dinner, the meal was served “grab-and-go” style. Luisa, Deborah and Carmela spent the morning preparing ham, turkey, cranberry sauce, and macaroni and cheese for our guests. Ruth baked the pies, one of our board member’s children made cookies, and LOLA Taverna provided vegetables and sweet potatoes to complete the delicious feast.
Each of our guests received a gift bag filled with hats, scarves, gloves, and other personal items. Our friends from Housing Works Inc. brought masks, hand sanitizer, toothpaste and a toothbrush for each guest, and were available to answer any health-related questions. Moroccanoil graciously provided shampoo and conditioner sets. Volunteer Al DiRaffaele made sure that no guest left empty handed.
We are so grateful for the support of our donors during what has been a difficult year for many. It is because of you that we are able to continue to be a place of welcome and refuge for women in need. On behalf of all of us at The Dwelling Place, we wish you a safe and merry Christmas and happy holidays!
