Exciting News – The Dwelling Place Has Reopened!

After months of careful preparation by our loving staff, The Dwelling Place of NY has reopened. Three women were admitted to our shelter on Jan. 19, with the fourth anticipated to arrive by the end of the month. We cannot express how excited we are to welcome them and resume our mission of bringing women from homeless to home.

The Dwelling Place would not have been able to reopen without the support of our donors. Thanks to your generosity, we raised nearly $75,000 during our fall fundraiser, “Bring The Ladies Home for the Holidays.” Those donations allowed us to make the necessary changes so that our building would be in compliance with guidelines set by New York City, New York State, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. We were also able to conduct necessary maintenance to our 100-year-old building – including repairing our stairs.

Our weekly Wednesday Night Community Dinners have continued throughout the pandemic. We have expanded our services by establishing partnerships with organizations like Housing Works, Inc., which has provided medical information and supplies to our guests. Photos from recent dinners are available on our Facebook page.

We are so grateful for all of the phone calls, emails, and letters that we have received throughout the pandemic. Your care for the women we serve – especially during what has been such a difficult time – has not gone unappreciated.

On behalf of the women we serve – thank you.
